The Final Stretch
Ey up,
Yet again I
have gone a good while without writing a post for the blog (Oh fuck, I haven’t
posted for the entire duration of March). Unfortunately, I’m now approaching
the Finals season of the academic year at Carleton. As a result, I have been
fairly busy and have struggled to find time to write about what I have been up
to. This will also mean this post will be comparably shorter to what I usually
post. With my last assignment due on Tuesday, I will only have 4 exams ahead of
me before my time at Carleton University is at its end. Meaning more time to
write and more time to enjoy my final few weeks before my return to the UK.
On that
note, I have also confirmed my return to the UK and will be back in the land of
dreary weather in early May.
It’s been a
fairly eventful period since I last wrote for the blog. I’ve since written
about 2 posts all of which I scrapped for fear of the content I was writing. In
short, I feel I got too political about current events back home in Blighty in
regard to the absolute state of the democratic process and freedom of speech.
But I digress and I shall cut myself short here before I scrap this post.
If I want
to talk politics, I’ll make a separate blog for that.
I guess,
one of the more significant events to occur since the last post was me getting
my first tattoo. I decided to get a decent sized maple leaf on my right wrist
as a memento of my time here. A rather permanent souvenir, but nonetheless I
like it and I think I may add to my arms when I live somewhere on a permanent
or semi-permanent basis. I’m considering getting an English Lion on my left
wrist to match the maple leaf on my right, to start this tradition.
Another
trip post, similar to the Montreal post, will be posted in the coming weeks as
I have booked myself a trip down to Toronto for three days. I plan on touring
around the usual touristy spots like the CN Tower, the underground city/shopping
complex of PATH and Koreatown. I’ll also be taking a short jaunt from there to
Niagara Falls to get the obligatory photos of the falls as Niagara is only
about an hour and a half from Toronto via commuter rail. After that, I’ll be
returning to Ottawa to sit my final exams, looking forward to that…
I’ve also
been able to finally scratch my gaming itch properly for the first time since
my arrival here, I have since purchased myself a Switch with Breath of the
Wild. Switch’s turned out to be much cheaper here than in the UK and with the
console and some games not being region locked, such as Breath of the Wild,
I’ll be able to bring the game back to the UK and keep playing with no issues.
I’m struggling to put it down in all honesty. I’ll most likely write more about
this on Silent Protagonists once I have played some more of Breath of the Wild
and other Switch games.
So, I’m
probably gonna go play more Zelda now, just talking about it here makes me want
to play some more. Next you probably hear from me is after my trip to Toronto
and prior to my final exams.
Until then,
see ya
Cheers,
Taylor
